- Open 招生 for Spring 2024 has begun:
Domestic students can enroll for graduate student health insurance via the United健康Care 学生资源 website at www.uhcsr.com/odu. We recommend that students enroll for coverage for the Fall semester and the Spring/Summer semester separately. We are currently in the second open enrollment period for Spring/Summer coverage. The deadline for enrolling for the Spring/Summer semesters coverage is February 15, 2024. 国际 students will automatically be enrolled. - If you are graduating this summer, you can apply for a two-month continuation of your health insurance. Log in to your UHCSR account to enroll.

国际 students with F-1 and J-1 visas are enrolled in the 学生 Injury and Sickness insurance plan upon registration for coursework. All degree-seeking students enrolled in courses at Old Dominion University's main campus or one of the regional higher education centers and Post-Doctoral Fellows are eligible to enroll themselves and eligible dependents for health insurance coverage. 招生 is completed online at United健康care 学生资源. Payment in full is required when you enroll.
All graduate assistants earning a total of $5,000 a semester or more from ODU, 研究基金会, or the Virginia Consortium in Clinical Psychology are eligible to enroll in a subsidized plan. The subsidized plan provides a taxable monetary subsidy paid to the graduate assistant. The subsidy is distributed mid-semester and will be part of the graduate assistant's paycheck. The amount of the subsidy varies and is determined on a semester basis. The amount of the subsidy for the 2023-2024 academic year is $1,100. The subsidy is paid by semester, $600 for Spring and $500 for Fall. Eligible graduate assistants can enroll online during the open enrollment period at www.uhcsr.com/odu.

- This plan complies with the Affordable Care Act (ACA) requirements for student health plans. 健康 insurance plans are rated on a metal leveling system, with Platinum being the highest and Bronze being the lowest. This plan is rated as Platinum level coverage, which is considered to be excellent and designed to pay approximately 90% of the total cost of the policy's benefits.
- No annual plan maximum.
- Low deductibles - $250 for in-network and $500 annually for out-of-network annually.
- Low out of pocket maximums - $4,000 for in-network and $7,000 for out-of-network annually.

Additional Information
Sometimes things don't happen on schedule, and you have to change your health insurance coverage. We call those qualifying life events. Examples include turning 26 and losing your parent's health insurance, 结婚, 生孩子, or loss of employment. Note: in your request to change coverage, include documentation of the QLE date.
If you graduate and your plan is expiring, you are eligible to apply to continue your enrollment for a maximum of 60 days. You must enroll for continuation coverage within 31 days of the expiration of your plan. For more information or to get an enrollment form, click 在这里.
COBRA is not provided under this plan.
For other short-term health insurance options, United 健康Care has a sister company, UHOne, that offers a variety of health, dental, and vision plans that may meet your needs. Other companies also provide individual short-term coverage that you can find by doing a Google search.
In addition to health insurance coverage, United 健康care 学生资源 also offers optional dental and vision coverage. These options are both twelve-month policies, and they can be selected individually and separately from the health insurance coverage. The open enrollment period for this coverage is during the 仅限秋季学期.
